  • A very fine and very sheer, open weave cotton which is part of the muslin family of fabrics.  Cotton Mull is available in various weights and stiffness depending on the usage. For example very stiff cotton mull has been used for book binding for centuries. Other types are known for their use in the food industry and certain types of cotton mull are used in cheese making, hence the term cheese cloth. This cotton Mull however, is much finer and intended for use on clothing garments such as dresses, blouses, underwear and nightwear because it feels so soft on the skin. Availible in pure white or deep dyed black, both are used for fashion and decoration.

The look and feel of Cotton Mull is very similar to French Batiste fabric. The finer weave creates a general softer feel, with the sheer finish even more apparent. The yarn is combed and twisted to give a smooth lustre which works well on lightweight clothing, especially in the summer and very hot countries.

Cotton Mull is has also become a popular choice in used in interior design, along with muslin, linen and cotton lawn.  Neutral coloured natural fabric is very on trend for decorating homes and venues. Fabric like mull and lawn can be layered as long drapes to create a light and airy space.

The actual fabric appearances, textures, colours and quality of your fabric may not be as what you see on screen, the dyeing process between fabrics vary due to way the fabric has been woven, constructed or treated. Another factor is the type of yarn used (coarse or fine), these are key factors to consider when choosing the right fabric for your project.
